Amorim calls Semenyo 'special player'

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim says Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo is a "special player" - but suggested United may not be in the race for the sought-after forward.

United face Semenyo and Bournemouth on Monday Night Football, live on Your Site, at Old Trafford.

Pushed on whether he would like him at United, he said: No, its not that case. I think there is a lot of special players in the league.

What I feel is, to summarise, top manager, top team. I really like the team and the top player. I think he is a special player.

Is this goodbye? Has Salah played his last game for Liverpool?

Sunday Supplement takes a look at the back pages and the fallout from Mohamed Salah's return to the Liverpool team that beat Brighton at Anfield and asks - has he played his last game for the club?

Mo Salah has posted a video on X of the reception he received from the Liverpool supporters following their 2-0 win over Brighton.

'Forest explore Garner return in bid to strengthen in January'

Nottingham Forest are exploring midfield options as they look to strengthen their squad in January, according to the Daily Mail.

Everton's James Garner has emerged as a key name under consideration, while Brighton's Jack Hinshelwood is also on Forests shortlist.

Garner spent two seasons on loan at the City Ground while he was a Manchester United player.

The 24-year-old was a part of the squad that secured a Premier League return through the play-offs in 2022.

Frank: We'll definitely be active in January

Spurs boss Thomas Frank on whether his side will be active in the January transfer market:

"Of course, I think we will definitely be in the market. No doubt about that. We want them as early as possible, like every other time.

"Let's see if we can have them before January 31. Probably, yes."

Palace considering approach for Spurs winger Johnson

Latest from Your Site News' James Savundra:

Crystal Palace are considering an approach for Tottenham Hotspur forward Brennan Johnson in January.

Palace are looking to sign a versatile attacking player next month, in part to fill the absence of Ismaila Sarr when he goes to the Africa Cup of Nations next week.

Johnson is one of a number of players the Eagles are looking at, hoping to bolster Oliver Glasner's squad for the second half of the season.

The 24-year-old Johnson scored the winning goal in last season's Europa League final for Spurs, but he has started only six Premier League matches this season under Thomas Frank.

Johnson signed for Spurs from Nottingham Forest in 2024, in a deal worth 47.5m. He had long been of interest to Brentford and others.

Spurs themselves want to sign a new left winger in January and Your Site News has already reported extensively on their interest in Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo.

Nev: Salah saga similar to Ronaldo exit - a player of less talent would be out

Gary Neville says he sympathises with both Mohamed Salah and Liverpool amid their current dispute, likening the situation to Cristiano Ronaldo's acrimonious exit from Manchester United in 2022.

Antonio 'looks good' in Leicester training

Leicester boss Marti Cifuentes says Michail Antonio "looks good" after the former West Ham striker trained with the club this week.

Antonio has not played a senior domestic match since December last year when he broke his leg in a car crash and required surgery, spending three weeks in hospital.

The 35-year-old was released by West Ham at the end of last season following the expiry of his contract, although did return to action with Jamaica in June.

Leicester, 13th in the Championship, are set to lose forward Patson Daka to the Africa Cup of Nations soon and free agent Antonio could be his replacement.

"He has looked good and has been a good lad to have around as well," said Cifuentes.

"We are just having a look at him and he is happy to train with us."

When asked if Antonio has shown signs of the trauma he has endured in the past year, Cifuentes said: "Not at all.

"We are aware that he has been training before with another club and he is looking good in that sense," the Spaniard continued.

"Match fitness is what will take some time to learn because he has been away for a long period.

"It's never easy, and it doesn't matter how hard you train or how hard you are involved, because the level of the game is different."

Hurzeler: Ferguson 'an option' after Tzimas injury blow

Fabian Hurzeler has not ruled out recalling Evan Ferguson from his loan at Roma after losing Stefanos Tzimas for the rest of the season with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament.

Tzimas, 19, a 20 million summer signing from Nuremburg, is set for surgery after suffering the injury in Brightons 4-3 home defeat to Aston Villa at the start of the month, with Hurzeler not expecting to see the Greece U21 striker again until preseason.

Ferguson slipped down the pecking order at Brighton after injury problems of his own, finishing last season on loan at West Ham before heading to Roma this summer.

Although he scored only one goal in his first 14 appearances for the Italian club, the Republic of Ireland forward grabbed a brace in a 3-0 Europa League win over Celtic on Thursday.

Asked about Ferguson on Friday, Hurzeler said: Evan is a player for us, that is why he will always be an option.

At the moment he is on loan but we follow it, we are pleased with how he performed yesterday. Of course we all follow it, so definitely he might be an option.

Tzimas was just starting to establish himself in the Brighton side, with the Villa game his full league debut after he scored his first league goal for the club in the 2-0 win at Nottingham Forest at the end of November, leaving him with three goals from 12 appearances.

He will have surgery and we have big trust in the doctors and we have big trust in the medical department, Hurzeler said. We are quite convinced that he will be back as quick as possible and even in better shape.
