Man Utd 'to reject' January bids for Mainoo

Manchester United intend to reject any bids to buy Kobbie Mainoo in January because the hierarchy believe he could have a bright future at the club, according to The Guardian.

Ruben Amorim is open to the 20-year-old going on loan after not naming him in a Premier League starting XI all season.

But the view within the hierarchy is that Mainoos youth and potential mean his ceiling remains high and that he could convince Amorim or a future United head coach he is worth a regular place.

Kobbie Mainoo's brother wore a 'Free Kobbie Mainoo' T-shirt to Monday's game against Bournemouth at Old Trafford.

Jordan Mainoo-Hames, the midfielder's half-brother, posted a picture to his Instagram story, showing him right next to the pitch.

Mainoo was given a raucous reception from home fans as he came on as a substitute in the 4-4 draw and remains a fan favourite.

The 20-year-old, who , is yet to start a Premier League game this season, despite the United head coach saying he views the academy graduate "as a starter like the other players" after the 4-1 win at Wolves.

Mainoo started for England in the Euros final in July 2024 but his lack of playing time has left him out of the picture under Thomas Tuchel, with reports claiming he wants to join Napoli on loan to get into the World Cup squad.

MLS side Toronto FC are interested in Southampton forward Ben Brereton Diaz, who is currently on loan at Derby. 

According to Sky in Italy, Toronto are looking to bolster their attacking options and Diaz is a player their are interested in and exploring the conditions of a potential deal.

However, no official request has been submitted to Southampton. Diaz joined Southampton from Villarreal in July 2024 but was loaned out to Sheffield United in January 2025. He has also had spells at Nottingham Forest and Blackburn Rovers. The 26-year-old has played 40 times for Chile, scoring nine times.

Brendan Rodgers is on his way to Saudi Arabia right now to complete the final stages of a deal with Al Qadsiah which will see him take over as the club's manager. 

Most of the details within his contract have already been agreed, Your Site News has been told, with the legal details to be completed over the next couple of days. 

Rodgers resigned as Celtic boss in October, and it's thought after more than 800 games as a manager for Liverpool, Celtic, Leicester and Swansea, he is keen to challenge himself in a new environment outside the UK.

Reguilon joins Inter Miami

Former Man Utd, Tottenham and Brentford defender Sergio Reguilon has joined Inter Miami on a two year deal, with the option of a further year.

He joins the recently crowned MLS Cup champions on a free transfer, having left Spurs in the summer.

Spain international Reguilon said: Its a very ambitious project, a winning club that is doing things the right way, and thats what attracted me: coming here to keep winning and competing.

"My objective is to keep winning, go after the trophies were missing, and win everything here.

Nottingham Forest are exploring midfield options as they look to strengthen their squad in January, according to the Daily Mail.

Everton's James Garner has emerged as a key name under consideration, while Brighton's Jack Hinshelwood is also on Forests shortlist.

Garner spent two seasons on loan at the City Ground while he was a Manchester United player. 

The 24-year-old was a part of the squad that secured a Premier League return through the play-offs in 2022.
